Lissa was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Connecticut, went to college in Florida, went to seminary in Missouri (where she lived for over 20 years), and currently lives in South Carolina. She has taught at a Christian school in Australia and has also traveled in over thirty countries while involved in missions with Operation Mobilization (OM). She served with 125 graduates from 25 different countries on OM’s ship, MV Logos. In addition to her extensive travel, her career path has taken her on a winding journey as educator, business owner, counselor, educational administrator, writer and editor. This diverse experience has given Lissa a broad world view and invaluable insights into successful living.
Lissa graduated summa cum laude from seminary with a master’s degree in Missions: Cross-Cultural Communication and an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education: English and Bible. Additional graduate hours have been earned in guidance and counseling, and she is certified in the administration and interpretation of many personality profiles. Lissa created the compatibility profile that Equally Yoked Christian Dating service has used for over ten years.
Lissa has taught at Central Bible College and Southwest Baptist University, as well as other institutions. She has owned her own business, and managed other’s businesses. She was executive director for Equally Yoked Christian Dating Service and center director for Sylvan Learning Center/Prometric Testing, both in Springfield, MO. She has written and edited Bible curriculum and tracts for an overseas children’s ministry, KidsQuest.
In addition to being involved in singles ministry for many years, Lissa has recently led a home group for her church, as well as taught 8 Crucial Realities in their curriculum classes. The last two years she has served as co-chair for her church in the SC Baptist Convention’s Women’s Lifestyle Evangelism Conference, as well as a lay chaplain at the local hospital. She has taken a leadership role in raising funds for local charities that help children through Trading Treasures for Life. Lissa has also been involved in pre-marriage counseling at her church. She and her husband, Doug, have three grown children and reside in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
